Syosset Promotes A Healthier Lifestyle

Health_120915ASyosset High School recently hosted its ninth annual Health Awareness Day, when teachers, students and outside organizations manned stations in the school gymnasium that featured a wide range of wellness-related topics to promote a healthier lifestyle.

Organizations such as Trazer, which uses state-of-the-art technology to conduct concussion testing and fitness-related drills, and Farmingdale State College’s School of Nursing, were on hand to conduct health screenings.

Health_120915BAdditionally, home-grown and healthy food vendors provided samplings of fruits, vegetables and even some sweet healthy treats, while other groups provided a variety of fun and engaging activities. The Syosset PTSA Wellness Committee was also on hand with prizes for contestants willing to test their health and safety knowledge. Health teacher Shai Fisher coordinated the event.
