Author_121615ACritically-acclaimed author of popular childrens books, local resident and award-winning educator, Brian Heinz, visited the third and fourth graders at Robert Seaman Elementary School recently.

An author of over 16 books, Heinz read and acted out his amazing adventures and imaginations which led to the writing of his books. Amongst many of his exciting stories, the children were fascinated with the one about his adventures and encounters with a starving wolf pack on a mid-winter hunt in the Canadian Rockies. This inspired and led him to pen one of his top novels The Wolves.

After his story telling, Heinz then visits with the children in the classroom. There, he orchestrates a workshop about how to write a story with visual aids, chart board examples, discussion and brief exercises. The students learn to artfully reveal the critical elements of story writing. His powerful tips and techniques transforms the classroom into a bubbling laboratory of creativity. A truly delightful technique that inspires the young to read and write. —By Darlene Pergola-Apolant
