Jericho Fire Open House

FireOpen_090215AThe Jericho Fire Department Trident Engine Company no. 3 invites the community to its open house at station no. 2 on Cantiague Rock Road on Saturday, Sept. 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Taking place next to Cantiague School, the open house will enable residents and their families to meet volunteer firefighters and firemedics while enjoying ice cream, hot dogs, soda, popcorn, soft pretzels, coffee and donuts.

Attendees can see the equipment and fire and rescue vehicles used to protect them, while understanding why the members of the department volunteer their time to protect the community. Many residents may not realize the Jericho Fire Department is an all-volunteer department. In addition to fighting fires, Jericho department members are New York state-certified EMTs and paramedics. —By Steve Mosco
