Two students at Syosset High School have been named semifinalists in the National Biology Olympiad Competition and are awaiting the results of their semi-final exam.

Winnie Ho, a senior, and Philip J. Jang, a sophomore, are both in the running to compete in the national finals at Purdue University this month. The Biology Olympiad competition consists of an open exam, which any high school student can complete.

Students scoring in the top 10 percent of that exam are selected as semifinalists, qualifying for an additional exam. The top 20 scoring semifinalists will be invited to participate in the finals at Purdue.
