More than 20 local business people attended a Business Breakfast at the Syosset Public Library on Friday, April 20. Bridgette Nicolini, founder and president of Reach For It Media, Inc., talked about the benefits of Social Media Marketing for small businesses.
The breakfast gave attendees the opportunity to network as well as to learn some practical pointers on using social media to attract new customers.
“The Library has many resources for people who are starting new businesses or expanding existing ones,” said Karen Liebman, library director. “Offering programs of interest to local business people provides a good addition to the print and online resources the library provides.”
Future programs include “How Local Businesses Can Become Certified to Work with the Federal Government” on Wednesday, June 3 and “Thriving in the 21st Century Workplace” on Wednesday, Sept. 9. Both programs will start at 7 p.m.
The Library’s Business and Careers Collection consists of more than 1,000 books and 13 business and career related databases. The Library subscribes to www.lynda.com, the pre-eminent online learning company that helps people learn business, software, technology and creative skills to achieve personal and professional goals. The website www.lynda.com is free for Syosset Library cardholders. In addition, librarians are available for one-on-one basic computer instruction in application software and social media.
“Our goal,” said Liebman, “is for the local business community to use their library to enhance their businesses.”
