Jericho Student Wins Debate Tourney

Agape Debater Nitish Rajagopal, a seventh grader from Jericho Middle School won the first place gavel Top Speaker’s award at the New York Urban Debate League tournament held at the Berkeley Carroll School in Brooklyn recently.  Nitish also own fourth place in the middle school advanced debate division with his partner, Justin Lin (Great Neck South M.S).

Rajagopal is a member of the Agape Leaders Institute in Manhasset.

More than 300 student debaters from various schools were completing in this tournament. This division also included many of the top teams that ranked at the New York state championships and the National Forensics League championships last year.

Nitish and his partner also qualified for the State and National Championships last year and expected to qualify for both championships this year as well.
