cleanupThe sixth of eight 2014 Household Hazardous Waste Disposal (S.T.O.P.-Stop Throwing Out Pollutants), Electronic Waste (e-waste) and Drug Collection programs for Oyster Bay Town residents is scheduled for Saturday, September 6, according to Town Councilwoman Rebecca M. Alesia. The collection will take place at Town Hall South, 977 Hicksville Road in Massapequa, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“The Town of Oyster Bay takes great pride in the S.T.O.P Recycling program,” Councilwoman Alesia said. “The scheduled dates for collecting hazardous waste offer Town residents the chance to dispose of potentially harmful products in a safe manner.  One of the Oyster Bay Town Board’s most important goals is ensuring the ongoing protection of Long Island’s environment, and programs like the S.T.O.P recycling program go a long way in preserving precious resources such as Long Island’s aquifer.”

Residents who would like further information on the S.T.O.P. program can call 677-5943.  Additionally, the Town offers an informative brochure about the S.T.O.P., e-waste and drug collection programs, including a list of what can be disposed of and the schedule of collection days and locations for 2014.
