property-taxNassau County Legislator Judy Jacobs (D-Woodbury) is advising community members of an eligibility change for the Enhanced STAR program. The Enhanced STAR income level has been increased from $81,900 to $83,300 for the 2015-2016 filing year. Eligibility in 2015 is based on income information from the 2013 tax year.

To be eligible for Enhanced STAR exemptions, one must be 65 years of age or older, and earn an annual income of $83,300 or less. For jointly owned property, only one spouse or sibling must be at least 65 by December 31 of the year when the exemption will begin. Furthermore, the income limit applies to all owners, and any owner’s spouse who resides at the property.

There have been no noted changes to the Basic STAR conditions for eligibility.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Legislator Jacobs’ office at 516-571-6216 or e-mail at jjacobs@nassaucountyny.gov.
