Marines Get A Treat

marinesThe Girl Scouts of Nassau County (GSNC), including Allie from Jericho Troop 3095, recently visited the 1st Marine Corps District in Garden City to hand-deliver a special shipment of Girl Scout Cookies through GSNC’s Operation Cookie, a community project that provides the general public the opportunity to purchase cookies to donate to U.S. military, both locally and abroad.

The Girl Scouts, who sold more than 100 Girl Scout Cookie boxes specifically towards Operation Cookie, were invited to participate in this special ceremony. This year there were 68 girls invited this special event.

During the ceremony, the Girls recited their Girl Scout Promise and worked together with the local military servicemen and women to unload 175 cases of cookies including Trefoils, Do-Si-Dos, Savannah Smiles, Thin Mints, Samoas and Tagalongs. This unique experience allowed the Girl Scouts to hand deliver the cookies and see the smiles on the faces of these grateful servicemen and women.
