Residents are invited to attend a March 10 educational forum at the Tilles Center, LIU-Post from 7 to 9 p.m. for a discussion of the trends impacting the development of school children on Long Island and across the country.
The program is an opportunity for the community to participate in the discussion regarding their concerns relating to federal and state education policies.
“This forum brings together some of those involved in the ongoing conversation relating to implementation of Common Core and testing and how these policies are impacting students, teachers and administrators,” says Assemblyman Charles Lavine (D-Glen Cove). “It’s a good opportunity to hear from those involved in the discussion.”
Panelists will include Dr. William Johnson, Superintendent of Rockville Centre Schools; Jeanette Deutermann, Parent Advocate; Dr. Anthony Griffin a teacher in the Central Islip School District; Nikhil Goyal, an activist and author; and Jennifer Polychronakos, Principal of the Boyle Road School, Comsewogue School District. Dr. Dodge will moderate the program.
There is no charge for the event, however, registration is required. Those interested in attending may register by visiting www.eventbrite.com and enter “A Return to Common Sense” in the search box. School Leadership 2.0 is helping to facilitate the event.
