Co-Presidents Clementine Bianco and Nelbar Trapani of the Homemakers of Nassau County recently contacted Commander Warren Church of American Legion Post 175 in Syosset, asking if they could have a cookbook sale at the Syosset American Legion, with all proceeds going directly to Veterans.

All agreed that the Northport Veterans Medical Center would be the ideal facility to donate to.

The book sale, held over three days, featured more than 5,000 cookbooks from around the world originally belonging to Nelbar Trapani who, in turn, gave them to the Homemakers organization.

Some of the books were being sold for as little as one dollar.

American Legion – Post 175 Commander Warren Church made contact with Richard Kitson, chief of Volunteer Services at the Northport facility, and a meeting was held in the main lobby, where a check for $600 was presented to Chief Kitson.

It is very important to always keep our Veterans in our thoughts and hearts.

We must remember, as we live our normal lives here at home, our loved ones continue to face injuries and death in far away lands, as they serve our country!

Thank you.
