Honig Grill, located at 8289 Jericho Tpke. in Woodbury, is now open and it offers the fine wines and ingredients reminiscent of the valley that inspired its formation. Brain Galligan, owner and operator of Il Mulino USA, LLC., and Steven Raia are the co-owners of the restaurant. Michael Honig and his family at Honig Vineyard and Winery in Rutherford, California, serve as another inspiration and their wines comprise a significant portion of the restaurant’s list.
“The owners were presented with a rare opportunity to collaborate with an exceptional star on the American winemaking scene,” said Jon Sherry, general manager of Honig’s Grill. “Opportunities to work with a wine industry leader like Michael Honig don’t come along very often. We immediately embraced the chance to develop this concept and bring it Long Island.”
The respect and admiration is mutual.
“The history and traditions of Napa Valley and our family’s commitment to quality are hallmarks of our artisanal approach to fine wine making,” said Honig, the vineyard’s president. “We’re excited to collaborate with Honig Grill to bring our wines and philosophy to a new audience. It’s what we’ve wanted to do for some time. Honig Grill has created a true grill experience from the east, New York, and the best wine making traditions of the west, Napa Valley. While thousands of miles apart, we are perfectly aligned in our vision, passion and authenticity.”
As might be guessed, wine is one of the centerpieces of the restaurant, and they offer some of the most renowned labels in the world, such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc. However, diners already familiar with the Napa Valley culinary experience will recognize other items on the menu associated with the area, such as yellowfin tuna, beef carpaccio and grilled swordfish.
Honig Grill is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, as well as corporate events and private parties. Visit www.honiggrill.com or call 516-367-7400 for more information.
